A bit more about Chalet 33

  • The House

    In 2023 we decided to open Chaletb 33 for year-round short-term vacation rentals. Unlike Chalet 40, which has been hosting guests for a few years now, this home has therefore only been available for holiday rentals since June 2023.

    Due to Chalet 33’s lack of a bathtub in the main bedroom's en-suite bathroom and the absence of built-in inside-and-outside BBQs, the daily rates are slightly less that Chalet 40’s.

    However, it excels in comfort. Unlike Chalet 40, which has a distinct sparse holiday feel, Chalet 33's interior is more 'homely,' adorned with extra fabric, wall decorations, and an overall vibe that feels more like a genuine "home" than the other house.

    Moreover, the details about Chalet 33 remain consistent with that of Chalet 40, offering spacious and well-organised accommodation for up to eight guests across three bedrooms and a loft. The 180 square meter floor area is divided over two levels. On the ground level, accessible without any steps, you'll find three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an open-plan living area/kitchen. The loft area, reachable via a staircase, features three single beds and a dedicated play space for younger guests.

    Recent enhancements include the installation of a 5-kilowatt inverter, addressing potential load shedding issues and ensuring uninterrupted and limitless access to WIFI, streaming TV service, microwave function, and full lighting, and use of all electrical plugs. The entertainment setup comprises a 50" UHD Smart TV, complete with a sound bar.

    For your convenience, we provide all-white linen and bath-and-beach towels, along with an abundance of extra blankets. The kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven, dishwasher, and gas-fuelled hob. The covered north-facing patio features a large table for outdoor meals.

    Additionally, guests have access to the shared outdoor non-heated swimming pool, providing an extra avenue for relaxation and recreation.

  • The Location

    Situated in the peaceful surroundings of the Garden Route, Chalet 40 is an ideal haven for a family retreat. Situated within the well-maintained 17-hectare expanse of the Silver Ranch estate, the unique circular arrangement of residences surrounding a fenced game encampment provides clear front and back views, enhancing the secluded atmosphere of this residence.

    Conveniently located in the Keurbooms River area, Plettenberg Bay is just a quick 10-minute car ride away, with the charming drives of Knysna and Storms River Mouth awaiting visitors.

    A 400-meter pathway effortlessly connects Silver Ranch to a stunning beach showcased in the gallery, offering not only a picturesque stroll but also a chance to observe the diverse birdlife near the Keurbooms River lagoon mouth. For those with an adventurous spirit, an eastern hike leads to Keurbooms Strand, where the plateau gracefully descends to meet the sea, marking the beginning of the rugged Tzitzikama coastline.

    It is, in part, the beauty of this location within our bay that encourages my guests to return time and again.
